Balance in the New Dawn

| /

This small abstract painting explores symmetry, layering, and tactile surface through an intensive handmade process. Two sheets of clear industrial-grade vinyl are first hand-painted in patterned compositions, then meticulously cut into strips and woven together over a hardwood frame. After weaving, the surface is painted again in a carefully composed palette, building up multiple layers to create a weathered gradient effect. The final stage involves sanding through these layers, revealing the history of color beneath and producing a nuanced, timeworn texture. Thick acrylic paint wraps the sides of the piece, fully framing the front, while a water-based sealant preserves its luminous, tactile quality.

Balancing precision and organic wear, the work invites close inspection and rewards attention with subtle shifts in tone, depth, and material presence.
