Tarnished Trophies at Midnight

From the Save Fast Fashion series. This piece is constructed using various materials found in modern day clothing manufacturing. After reading numerous articles about the fast fashion industry where clothes are produced in large quantities with little quality or life expectancy, and ultimately ending up in landfills which creates a serious drag on the environment I was inspired to incorporate repurposed textiles into my art practice. This particular piece is made from a pair of jeans and two t-shirts. I added design elements to the fabrics and then cut and wove them together on a frame. Gold fleck paint was then applied and sanded to create the finish shown. The dark color ways of the fabrics/piece inspired the title.
